    FAQ

    Questions, answered.

Need help with images at scale? Talk to our team.

How accurate are the file sizes shown?

While you drag the quality slider, sizes marked ≈ are fast estimates. A moment after you stop, each image is compressed for real and the exact size replaces the estimate. Downloads always use your current settings.

How much can I reduce an image’s file size?

It depends on the image. Large photos saved at high quality often shrink a lot, while images that are already optimised may not get smaller. If compression would make a file bigger, the tool keeps your original.

What is the best format for small file sizes?

WebP generally produces smaller files than JPG or PNG at similar visual quality, and it is supported by all major modern browsers.

Why doesn’t PNG get much smaller?

PNG is a lossless format, so it cannot throw away detail the way JPG and WebP can. For photos, converting a PNG to WebP or JPG usually saves far more space.

Will compressing images help my website speed?

Usually, yes. Smaller images load faster, which helps page speed and Core Web Vitals such as Largest Contentful Paint, especially on mobile.

    Are my images uploaded?

No. Compression runs locally in your browser. Your images are never uploaded.
