How accurate are the file sizes shown?
While you drag the quality slider, sizes marked ≈ are fast estimates. A moment after you stop, each image is encoded for real and the exact size replaces the estimate. Downloads always use your current settings.
Which image formats can I convert?
You can convert between JPG, PNG and WebP. HEIC (iPhone photo) support is planned. For now, export HEIC photos as JPG from your Photos app first.
Should I use WebP, JPG or PNG?
WebP usually gives the smallest files for websites. JPG is the most compatible choice for photos. PNG is best for logos, screenshots and graphics that need sharp edges or transparency.
What happens to transparency when converting to JPG?
JPG does not support transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the background colour you choose. White is the default.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Conversion happens in your browser on your device. Files are never sent to a server.

Why is WebP unavailable in my browser?
Creating WebP files depends on browser support. If your browser cannot create WebP, the option is disabled and you can use JPG or PNG instead, or try a current version of Chrome, Edge or Firefox.
